Working Visit to Belarus (September 16-18, 2013)

Governor Muammer Türker, the Secretary-General of the National Security Council, paid an official visit to Minsk between 16-18 September 2013 at the invitation of Leonid Maltsev, the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus.

Secretary-General Türker met with Viktor Lukashenko, the Assistant to the Belarus President for National Security Affairs, and Igor Schunevich, the Minister of the Interior, as well as his counterpart Leonid Maltsev, the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between the Secretariat-General of the National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey and the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus.

Within the framework of the visit program organized by the Belarusian authorities, Secretary-General Türker also paid visits to the Institute for Command Engineers of the Ministry for Emergency Situations, the Institute for Retraining and Professional Development of the Ministry for Emergency Situations, the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit “ALMAZ” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Academy.

At meetings held during the Belarus visit, it was concluded that the current cooperation between the two countries do not reflect the real potential and cooperation should be improved in the areas of politics, economics, culture, education, tourism and security.
